Marriage Announcements Get a Romantic Refresh in a Weekly Column Featuring New England Wedding Stories; Applications Wanted.

BOSTON, April 30, 2025 — The Boston Globe introduces “The Big Day,” a new weekly wedding column that celebrates modern relationships and the unique love stories of couples. Available in print on Sundays and online for couples to share with friends and family, “The Big Day” offers an in-depth look at contemporary romance, detailing how couples met, fell in love, got engaged, and said their vows.
“The Globe is so excited to offer ‘The Big Day’ to our readers who are already fans of love stories and relationship-focused, heartwarming content, including the ‘Love Letters‘ advice column and podcast, and our blind date series, ‘Dinner with Cupid‘,” said Veronica Chao, Globe Deputy Managing Editor of Living/Arts. “Globe readers who enjoy lifestyle coverage and all things New England will truly enjoy this new column as we expand coverage of personal and human-interest stories.”
“The Big Day” features couples from all walks of life with ties to the New England region, whether they commit to each other in a small ceremony at city hall or a large celebration in a ballroom. Each story captures the emotions, challenges, and triumphs of love, as told by the couples themselves. The column aims to build engagement with readers by providing heartwarming, relatable content showcasing real stories of couples across the region.
“The Big Day” is written by longtime Globe contributor Rachel Kim Raczka, a wedding expert who recently got married in 2023.
“It’s been a privilege to get to know couples during this special period of their lives,” said Raczka, who published the first column in October. “Their love stories — which range from serendipitous meet-cutes to decades-long friendships — are unique and beautiful, and have been an uplifting weekly feature that readers (and I!) have grown to look forward to each week. ‘The Big Day’ joins ‘Love Letters‘ and ‘Dinner with Cupid‘ as an exploration of the many, varied ways that strong relationships can help us find ‘happily ever after.'”
“The Big Day” includes:
- Real Couples, Real Stories: First-person narratives from interviews with newlyweds.
- Journeys from Meeting to Marriage: Details that cover a duo’s relationship from first date to proposal to post-wedding plans.
- All Types of Celebrations: Ceremonies range from intimate elopements to grand affairs.
- Captivating Photographs: Wedding photos that capture a couple’s special moments with credits to photographers and vendors, including florists, caterers, and venues.
How to apply:
