Boston Globe Culture

We foster a culture of innovation and inclusion where employees from different backgrounds and career stages are provided opportunities to share their ideas and feel a sense of connection to our mission.

Career Development & Mentorship

We offer learning and development opportunities for business and editorial positions. Benefits may include membership with professional associations, access to networking opportunities, and tuition reimbursement for eligible employees and degree programs.

Inclusion Council

The Inclusion Council is a cross-functional team made up of representatives from all of our business departments and newsrooms. The Council’s work centers on creating both short- and long-term plans that support lasting infrastructure and enable greater diversity, equity, and inclusion across several areas:

  • Inclusive Content
  • Business Process Redesign
  • Audience Growth
  • Learning & Development

All employees at Boston Globe Media are invited to participate in monthly Council meetings, and many members choose to participate on a variety of subcommittees dedicated to specific business and editorial initiatives. The Inclusion Council helps to implement ongoing learning and development opportunities for all employees.

A top business priority is to continuously invest in innovation in order to support our vital journalistic mission for the long term. The Innovation Lab is a dedicated space to capture ideas, collaborate on and thoughtfully evaluate them, and determine the best path to see top ideas implemented. Every quarter, the company hosts a Hackathon and Idea Pitch where all employees are invited to hack a problem, build a pitch, and brainstorm (individually or with a team) to address pain points and/or flesh out creative new ideas to grow or innovate our business or journalism.
